おはようございます!
いまははやいですね~
When I returned home last night I went to bed earlier than usual and now I am awake pretty early typing this.
I still feel reluctant to call it a "date." Is that what a date is? Maybe I am still inexperienced and really don't know...
Actually, this guy has had my confused and nervous about my feelings! (笑) So maybe, this is why I feel hesitant to call it a date.
Anyways, I had a wonderful time.
I spoke with れん until he picked me up at 13.00 in front of the University. I was really feeling very nervous (in fact, I didn't eat anything which caught up to me last night!) (笑)
We had been talking about both of our situations and the guys that we were interested in. Eventually, he texted me and I could see him anyways so I said goodbye and went to the car.
After a couple of minutes the nervousness went away and we were discussing his work. It was already decided that we would go to Viscaya so we just confirmed that and then began talking.
With this being mentioned, he's so passionate about what he does. It's really wonderful to hear about. He enjoys his work and has interest in the future to study a different field as well (which happens to be the human brain)
おもしろいですね! I listened a lot to his thoughts about his work and what he would like to do with his work in the future. It was very impressive and very interesting. I tried to ask as many questions as possible because I wondered if he thought the topic would be uninteresting to me...
I wanted him to know that I was interested, because actually, it is so different than anything I have been exposed to before.
So, we continued to talk about this until we reached Viscaya. The building itself is two stories and fairly large but the entire property is much larger!
The weather wasn't really appropriate for us to tour the entire land but we were both impressed by the building from the outside alone.
Both of us were confused about how to gain access to the building (which I later learned that we both have a terrible sense of direction!) It was really cute actually!
The whole building was really impressive. The inside was mostly modeled after French, English and Italian architecture. There were more guest rooms than I could have imagined and the lighting was very dim in many of the rooms which gave it an "older" feeling despite it being under a century old.
We both looked through all of the rooms and continued talking. There were mini tours going on but we didn't join actually which I was thankful that he didn't want to. There were many people in fact and many different people so we were both a little surprised!
The architecture was beautiful and of course some rooms were a little creepy which we discussed too. The "sitting room" had us both laughing a little because it looked so elegant and we both agreed that there had to be certain rules if you were in this room. It was silly, he was saying things like "cover your mouth lightly and laugh quietly." Just silly things like this.
After we had finished it was raining pretty hard so we stayed in the certain of the building which was very refreshing. We just sat and talked some more. Actually, we discussed photography and more about his work. It was a good trade off because the conversation was pretty steady.
We also spoke about our food preferences and decided we would go have coffee first. Neither of us were hungry and in fact, we didn't even go to dinner!
The rain seemed lighter around 15.30 so we left but still got rained on. We both laughed about it as we were walking back to the car because I had brought an umbrella but didn't bring it inside!
In the car we spoke some more (imagine that!) It took us longer than expected to find a Starbucks, partially because of our bad direction and also because we were in deep conversation so he kept missing his turns! (笑) It was really cute though.
Around 16.30 we finally found a Starbucks and we both said something similar to "やった! We made it!"
From 16.30 until 22.00 we talked about all kinds of things. The conversation went pretty smoothly and I was fortunate to talk to him about a lot of "life" stuff.
I guess I'll only mention a few things because honestly it could be a post alone to talk about everything and that would be awkward anyways! (^o^)
- We mentioned our previous relationships (which really, my heart hurt for him because he was close to marriage in his previous relationship four years ago)
- We discussed the divorce rate here and in Japan
- We talked about his family and my family
- The differences he noticed in Japan and here (like, the customer is treated like a king in Japan)
- We discussed general attitudes about life (I felt really happy to hear that we have similar views! He is very optimistic and appreciates challenges too)
- We discussed theme parks and also looked at his Japanese tourist map of Florida
Basically, the conversation just kept going.
Every time we mentioned going to eat he wasn't interested and neither was I so we continued talking.
We talked a lot about our idea of love and relationships. Also, a lot about life. It was really nice and during that time he felt like he was being very open with me as well as felt comfortable.
He seemed surprised by me too maybe but it just made me feel a little embarrassed actually...
"When I was 19...I wasn't like this at all!"
I hope that I made a good impression but I think that I did. He made a good impression on me though, he is very sincere and optimistic. He also is ambitious and genuinely seems thoughtful.
Of course, the Starbucks was beginning to close so we had to leave!
I was reluctant but we talked a little more in the car and also passed Santa's Enchanted Forest which I had mentioned earlier to him. He took me past the highway to see the lights that they were beginning to arrange. It's so beautiful already!
He has never been but he mentioned that he had seen the lights so he took me. I was just impressed because I love that kind of stuff.
I mentioned that I had a really good time and thanked him. He agreed and then we said goodbye.
That is everything really, without giving direct details of our conversations! (笑)
He said it was his first time staying in a Starbucks so long talking! (^o^)
My impression of him has changed a little but in a positive way. I definitely want to go out again and get to know him more.
We texted after briefly (because I always ask if he has made it home safely so now it's just habit for him to tell me that he has)
He said we'd have to come up with different and new topics for conversation next time! (笑)
I am not sure about anything yet but I feel positive about things. Hopefully he will continue to give me a chance and we can go out again.
This morning I woke up super early and have been sitting around waiting for my hair to dye actually.
Today I'll study. Of course, I would love to see him if only for a few minutes before he leaves the lab (because he feels motivated to work although he doesn't have to today)
But...I don't want him to be sick of me just yet so probably I'll see him Monday! (笑)
In a few hours I'll go to breakfast and begin studying. I have two exams tomorrow actually so it is crucial that I study a bit today.

So, you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul,
instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
You learn that you really can endure,
that you really are strong, and you really do have worth.
You learn and learn, with every goodbye you learn.
Scream your name
Your thoughts, and your cries. Be nice.
Tagboard here, I like shoutmix.com. It can be 100% in width, the height you can put it as whatever. Best if the style is "wide"
