A Little Inspiration

Just a couple of inspirational quotes that I have written down. If you enjoy the serenity in Buddhism, than you will enjoy these. I took some notes today and have been gathering little inspirational reminders for the past year.

- Peace comes from within, do not seek it without.
- Have compassion for all beings, rich and poor alike; each has their own suffering. Some suffer too much, some too little.
- When we fall on the ground it hurts us, but we also rely on the ground to get back up.
- Do not wish for gratitude
- Pain is inevitable, suffering is not.
- While practicing generosity, we should always remember how very fortunate we are to have this opportunity.
- Leave the mind in its natural state, undisturbed state. Don't follow thoughts of "This is a problem, that is a problem!" Without labeling difficulties as problems, leave your mind in its natural state. In this way, you will stop seeing miserable conditions as problem.
- We confuse attachment with love. Attachment is concerned with my needs, my happiness, while love is an unselfish attitude, concerned with the needs and happiness of others. Most of the time our love is mixed with attachment because we do not feel adequate or secure on our own, and we try to find wholeness in another. We become dependent on good feelings and comfort of the relationship and then suffer when it changes. A relationship is free of disappointment, conflict, jealousy and other problems, and is fertile ground for the growth of love and wisdom.
- Eventually we will find (mostly in retrospect, of course) that we can be very grateful to those who have made life difficult for us.
What you think is a problem comes from your mind; what you think is joyful comes from your mind. Your happiness does not depend on anything external.

I feel very strongly about these kinds of words. Not just as words but practices too. Hope that you enjoyed them too.
